  • FTC VS. XPICS Counsel for then leading adult website in U.S.A., defending against Washington, D.C. FTC office; settlement resulting in no payment by clients, despite original demands by FTC of $13,000,000 in redress.
  • Represented Plaintiff Processing Companies. Represented plaintiff processing companies against alleged investment advisor and others concerning failure to repay loans in California Federal Court. Obtained judgment of $2,200,000.00 against defendants.
  • Represented Mid-Level Processor Against Middle Eastern Bank. Represented mid-level processor against Middle Eastern bank in credit card processing matter, where our client asserted in Florida U.S. District Court breach of contract and conversion claims for reserves unpaid by offshore bank. Settled within 90 days for $800,000, the full amount outstanding.
  • Online Merchant vs. an Offshore Bank in Latin America. Represented an online merchant as plaintiff against an offshore bank in Latin America that had withheld over $1,200,000 in reserves and alleged fines for credit card processing. Brought suit in California through agent of bank, despite adverse choice of law and jurisdiction passages in Merchant Processing Agreement. Worked out settlement for clients within 9 months of filing for all amounts outstanding.
  • Lead Counsel in Rhode Island Litigation. Lead counsel in Rhode Island litigation brought on behalf of credit card processors against two major credit card schemes (associations) as well as against a major processor. Mediated a successful high six figure settlement, despite client’s filing bankruptcy.
  • VS Media, the Leader of Online Live Chat Video. Representing VS Media, the leader of online live chat video, against mega- ISO/processor Pivotal Payments; successfully kept litigation in California despite Utah choice of law and jurisdiction in contract. Settled in mediation two weeks before trial within client's goals.
  • Representing ISO/Processor Stellia Ltd. Representing ISO/processor Stellia Ltd. Malta against B+S Card Service, GmbH, a German financial institution, in a suit brought by Stellia in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada for breach of contract, Lanham Act/unfair competition, conversion and other actions. Representation of ISO/Processor in defense against multimillion dollar suit in Utah Federal District Court and then Utah State court by UK based internet mega-merchant favorable rulings concerning Rule 41 2 Dismissal Rule leading to negative adjudication on the merits for merchant while maintaining multimillion dollar action against merchant.
  • Renoir Family. Lead counsel defending Renoir family members in copyright infringement and Lanham Act case brought by Estate of Richard Guino in US. District Court, Phoenix, Arizona.  Succeeded as a result of trial and post-trial motions and obtained over $422,000 award in attorneys fees and sanctions against plaintiffs and their counsel.
  • Represented the Estate of Erte. Represented the estate of a major art deco artist, against his long time managers, in three contemporaneous litigations in Paris, New York, and London.  Successfully recovered hundreds of original works of the artist and obtained a cash settlement of over $1,500,000.00.
  • Represented a Group of Paris Based Art Publishers. Represented a group of Paris based art publishers against a highly successful living artist who walked away from a major publishing agreement without performing.  Settled the matter after filing suit, within four months, for $2,350,000.00.
  • Represented a Businessman in Los Angeles. Represented a businessman in Los Angeles who purchased alleged multiple Chinese antique artifacts, which turned out to be fake.  After filing suit, through negotiations settled matter for full amount of purchase for over $750,000.00, within 90 days of service of multi-count action.
  • Management and Contract Negotiations Management, contract negotiations and oversight of tens of millions of dollars of sales by Alexandra Nechita, world renowned artist, with Global Fine Arts/Princess Cruises, and other art distributors.  Set up museum show in Paris for artist.
  • Structure and Development of Rodin Sculpture Structure and development of Rodin sculpture project for Bronze Masters International, with 24 images cast in bronze as posthumous limited edition works.  Set up exhibitions all over world. Thereafter, oversight of sale of plasters and molds to another publisher for $2,500,000.00.
  • Representation of Degas Heirs and Comite Degas. Representation of Degas Heirs and Comite Degas in relation to moral rights, also studio plasters and bronzes cast from those plasters of Degas; establish protocols for certificates of authenticity, examination and oversight of all 74 Degas plasters sourced to Valsuani foundry and Nellie Hebrard.
  • The Settlement and litigation between Art Publisher and his exclusive artist Protracted litigation involving contract, tort, and intellectual property issues involving internationally known artist, his European distributors, and our client an Art Publisher. A mediated settlement was achieved of over $3,000,000.00.  The case was litigated in both state and federal court.
  • Litigation between a Dutch internet merchant and ISO and a major Philippine acquiring bank. This matter involved a dispute between a Dutch internet aggregating merchant and a very large Philippine bank and its credit card holding subsidiary (Rizal Bank and Bankard) involving credit card processing subject to an ambiguous merchant processing agreement.  That Agreement, which was governed by Philippine law, was litigated in the California courts, which allowed our clients to sue the Philippine defendants in California (sustaining jurisdiction) and eventually at trial awarding $1.5 MM USD in actual damages and $7.5 MM USD in punitive damages.  This case is currently on appeal.
  • Dispute between internet merchant and credit card processor. We represented a California credit card processor against an out of state internet merchant who had entered into processing arrangements with our client.  An out of court settlement was achieved for our client and resulted in fees to the client of more than $2,000,000.00 and a continuing relationship with the merchant. That settlement was achieved within 90 days of taking on the matter.
  • Litigation between ISO/Agent and Major Credit Card Processor. The firm represented a domestic ISO/Agent who had entered into contractual relationships with a large Texas based gateway and processor.  That processor through acquiring entities in Europe processed millions of dollars of transactions for the agent’s clients without properly compensating the agent.  Litigation was conducted in federal court in Texas, and settlement was achieved for our clients of over $600,000.00.
  • Mr. Steiner has been involved in many multi-million-dollar private mandate art transactions, including recently a Purchase and Sale of a $38 MM USD Picasso, 80 MM Euro blue period Picasso, a lifetime cast of a significant Giacometti bronze for $150,000,000.00 USD and several other transactions involving modern and contemporary big name artists.
  • Degas Heirs: Mr. Steiner continues to represent the Comite Degas and the Degas Heirs in all sculptural matters.  Included in this representation is assisting exclusive licensee of the Comite Degas for casting of posthumous bronzes of Degas as well as a project to publish enlargements/reductions of important Degas works. The project has projected revenues in excess of $10 MM USD.
  • Early consultation on litigation matters: The firm has been retained by a number of small to medium size companies to consult in pending litigation matters, to map out strategy for the efficient and successful litigation and projected conclusion of such matters both for Plaintiffs and Defendants to properly marshal the work of attorneys without employing “scorched earth” tactics.  These consultations have resulted in earlier resolution of litigated disputes and substantial savings on legal fees.
  • Representation of marijuana related advertising and media business. The firm continues to represent APOP Media, and its CEO Matt Young in all of its contract and litigation matters.  With the firm’s help, APOP Media has raised substantial monies and has become the gold standard in servicing legal dispensaries throughout California with advertising and media side products exclusively licensed with industry leading software.  
  • Representation of Velfin, Inc., peer to peer lending app. The firm has recently undertaken the representation of the founder of Velfin, Inc., a seamless and technologically advanced peer to peer lending source for consumer loans in the United States.  The firm and its associates are in the process of obtaining state lending licenses, and preparing a Regulation A filing with the SEC. Current plans of Velfin are to raise as much as $50,000,000 in the first year of operation after the Reg. A is issued from unaccredited investors throughout the United States for loans initially in California.
